Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve.

Yet even the festive atmosphere can't keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated--scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.

I know, I'm very late in the party. I was waiting for the French translation to be released, but when I saw it would only be out in 8 days, I thought "f*ck it" and decided to read it in English. I won't lie, it was a bit of a challenge ; even if I have a good level in this language, reading fantasy books is pretty hard because the author usually create a lot of worlds for her universe. But I was still able to read the whole thing, luckily for me. Anyways, I won't talk about me anymore.

What a pleasure it was to see again Feyre and Rhysand, still very much in love as before, after the events of "A Court of Wings and Ruin". The almost-death of Rhysand was still in my mind and I was scared that, somehow, his resurrection would turn badly. Luckily for me and for the readers, the High Lord of the Night Court is very well. Feyre and him, after the war, are now busy trying to make sure that peace will last within all territories, which is no easy task. And between their duties, they also have to prepare the Solstice ; a celebration of the Night Court. It was very fun to see these characters doing such a simple thing like shopping for their friends, worrying about which gift to choose etc.

It was a surprise to discover the point of views of Cassian and Mor, but as much as I think their characters are interesting and lovable, I didn't really enjoyed reading them. Sarah J. Maas's words are always amazing, but I was more excited about knowing Feyre and Rhysand's thoughts, aha. We also had the opportunity to see a bit of Nesta's mind during one of the chapters but I have to admit that I simply cannot feel any kind of empathy towards her or her emotions. Her attitude towards her sisters (and Feyre who always protected her) is just hateful. Luckily, Elain was here to be the good sister and actually made a lot of progress since we last saw here ; it was a relief.

Another surprising part was the short visits of Rhysand in Tamlin's court. Seeing how much Tamlin is broken after all that happened was sad, but he sadly is the only one to blame. He changed so much since "A Court of Thorns and Roses", and not in a good way. But if he hadn't changed, then Feyre wouldn't have run away from him and wouldn't be as happy as she is right now, so I am almost glad that he did all these things to her.

Anyways, my favorite moments of the book where, obviously, between Feyre and Rhysand. The part where she gave him the painting of her own reflection in the Ouroboros was such a powerful moment, I didn't expected her to show it to anyone. I even thought someone would find the painting where she first left it before she could hide it somewhere. The moment where she talked about his future gift was heartbreaking (in a good way). I do not like children, but the idea of these mates creating a family of their own after all the things they've been through is really beautiful. I hope we will see it happen in the future.

The revelation of the next book at the end of this story was a good surprise, I almost read the teaser but decided to not do it finally. I want to be surprised. I just hope it won't be a completely different story following the lives of others characters, they're so much to tell about the High Lady and High Lord of the Night Court. I cannot wait to reunite with them again.
